This Saturday marked the first day of the new semester for Bayside's small groups. Despite the fact that the technically challenged small group leader was unable to successfully send an email, a lucky crew of 13 made it to the park on time. We chose the less-than-exciting-but-very-sturdy water fountain as our picture prop today.
Chris, Steve, Cheryl, Devorie, Judy (barely), Marilyn, Victor, Kay, George, Kelsey, Pam, Marge, Barkley
If we get any bigger, we'll have to start lining up in rows. We were virtually a 100% walking crew until Devorie broke away later (picture to follow). Sorry for the overexposure - my camera skills have recently rusted.
At the intersection, the crew split in two: the tower crew and the road crew. I have pictures to confirm some of the tower crew's activity. I'm told that the road crew walked to Anna Maria Island, swam with some dolphins at the beach, performed water baptisms on some tourists, clothed a few homeless people, and then made it back to the preserve. My group just walked. Here's some shots of Team Nash, Team spoonbills, and Team Mixon crossing the bridge.
From the top of the tower I snapped a shot of two musclebound chicks.
Here's team Nash on rep number 23 or 24 (I lost count on those two).
With just a few more reps to go, George took a break to speak into a small electronic device. I know it wasn't a cell phone because we just had a meeting discouraging their use during 10:10 time. I think he's recording audio notes for his memoirs. Gotta love George - he's always working on something!
We climbed back to the top where I shot Devorie taking off on her run, and Team Nash (are you getting tired of Team Nash yet? They're such camera hogs).
We met a bunch of new friends on the tower, and my camera skills captured only one - Charity - who we invited to join us every Saturday.
Our closing prayer time attracted another new friend Ginger who was curious about our group and asked that we pray for her recently born grandson. When I pulled my camera from my pocket to get a picture of Ginger, the Nash's scrambled like the last players in a game of musical chairs to get in it.
No 10:10 Saturday would be complete without a trip to the Geraldson's Market. For those who haven't seen the little store under the ficus tree, here it is along with some very happy shoppers.
This coming Saturday July 3 will be the 10:10 Kayak day - though canoes are welcome too. We'll meet at our usual 8am time, and we'll have the pavilion from 8am to 1pm. After our 3 hour paddle, we'll cook out on the grills and enjoy some pot luck dishes from the crew.
Sounds like abundance to me!
